MAXXI L’Aquila is a place of communication, encounter and collaboration among expressive languages, and is configured as a hub able to interweave networks at different levels between the protagonists of contemporary art and those working in the multiform artistic and scientific system (galleries, foundations, associations, other museums and research institutes), giving voice to the best examples of national and international creativity.
As it happens in its seat in Rome, MAXXI L’Aquila aims at bringing together visual arts, performance, photography and architecture, thereby pondering contemporaneity, and at fulfilling its institutional mission and cultural and social vocation through the productions of artists and creatives.
Alongside site-specific projects, the rooms of Palazzo Ardinghelli host works from the MAXXI Collection with a programming of temporary art, architecture and photography exhibitions.
We will start with the special commissions of Italian artists Elisabetta Benassi, Daniela De Lorenzo, Alberto Garutti, Nunzio, Ettore Spalletti and the young Russian artist Anastasia Potemkina, and with the original projects of two masters of photography: the one on L’Aquila by Paolo Pellegrin and the one by Stefano Cerio with the inhabitants of Onna.
MAXXI L’Aquila is a place for discussion and interaction: in-depth programmes, talks, workshops, educational projects and training activities accompany the various exhibitions in a constant and lively exchange with the territory.
